A non-profit 501(c)(3) chartered for the purpose of developing the sports financial education portion of our vision. As a non-profit, we can request grants and donations from government and the private sector. We will get this off the ground with a free available plug-in that turns this platform into an online learning system:

I like Institute. It just sounds more education oriented. If your up for other suggestions, what about The New Sports Economic Academy? I like Economic instead of Economy also.

I also like Institute and I think it covers the other options too.

I’m on my second pass on this book:

    http://www.amazon.com/Forces-Good-High-Impact-Nonprofits-non-Franchise/dp/0787986127/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1296324864&sr=8-1

It is a blueprint for making The New Sports Economy Institute a success.

Did you know that the non-profit sector is the third largest sector of the U.S. economy with more than $1T in annual economic activity? See this report:

    http://www.urban.org/uploadedpdf/412209-nonprof-public-charities.pdf

Look at the 10-year growth rate. Astounding!

With the current political climate tilting (correctly) toward education and innovation, I believe that our vision married to a good starter outline of where we are taking this will position us well for fundraising.

In summary, here are the 6 common characteristics of high-impact non-profits that are profiled in detail in that book:

.. First.. they ALL are catalysts for SYSTEMIC change.. sound familiar?

    1. Work with government and advocate for policy change
    2. Harness market forces
    3. Create meaningful experiences for their supporters thereby creating evangelists
    4. Build and nurture non-profit networks. “Grow the field” by treating potential competitors as partners.
    5. Very adaptive to the changing social, economic and political environment
    6. Share leadership

These are actually very good principles for CWH and the SRI as well.

#3 in terms of the SRI will happen through the empowerment and enjoyment experienced by the traders. Where I’m a bit stumped is how to apply #3 to the educational side.. maybe through a free-play SRI trading simulator that awards prizes to top earners? We could fund these prize purchases as part of the non-profit expense line. Comments?

After more detailed studying of these materials on very successful non-profits and focusing in on the educational institutions, I think we need to more carefully consider the name. We need something simple yet powerful that speaks directly to our target market in very clear terms.

“The New Sports Economy Institute” is too “high brow” in my opinion and won’t resonate in the grade-school (onward) audience that we want to reach at the earliest possible moment.

So… in 3 words or less, what clear and powerful message do we want to convey in the name? Any ideas?

I am providing 375,000 CWH shares from my personal stake as a grant to the Institute. That should provide plenty of capital over the coming years to expand the mission worldwide.

Now we are back to the original Idea you thought was to high brow.
